New York State Police troopers from the Poughkeepsie barracks on patrol at approximately 3:30 a.m. on March 31 in Pleasant Valley stopped Amenia resident Christopher Principato, 42, for traveling in excess of the posted speed limit, according to a report released on Tuesday.
During the stop, troopers said that it was determined that Principato was allegedly under the influence of alcohol and was operating his vehicle with revocations on his license due to a previous DWI conviction. There was also a warrant out for Principato’s arrest in New York City, and he was in possession of marijuana.
Principato was arrested and charged with felony counts of aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and driving while intoxicated with prior convictions within the past 10 years. He was also cited for unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation.
Following arraignment, Principato was remanded to the Dutchess County Jail without bail. He is due back in Pleasant Valley Court later this month to answer the charges.
